1 review for Alec Bradley Project 40 Maduro Gordo

  1. John Martin

I need to say immediately that this is NOT a review of the Gordo.

Yesterday I smoked the Maduro Robusto and today I smoked the original Robusto. Both (and the Gordo) are currently (September 2021) unavailable at Victory making this review moot. Both were a little on the disappointing side. Both burned unevenly. The Maduro was hard work yielding little smoke. I touched it up once and eventually gave up on it. The original started with promise yielding plenty of smoke but fell back into the same bad behaviour as its Maduro brother. I did wonder if I’d done something to bring this on. On both occasions I’d carried the stick for twenty minutes in my sweaty shirt breast pocket. And yesterday was quite windy which may have affected the lighting. Or they may have been poorly rolled.

I suppose a cigar should not be judged on a single example so I’ll give these the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand, another Alec Bradley, the American Classic, at the same price proved to be a very enjoyable and well-behaved smoke so I don’t see myself coming back to any of the Project 40s.
